Hotel Okura Announces First Domestic Resort, Featuring Private Hot Spring Baths for Every Guest

HAKONE, JAPAN – Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. has announced plans to open Okura Resort Hakone Gora in 2029, marking the debut of the brand’s first resort property within Japan. The new development underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its luxury portfolio in one of the country’s most prominent hot spring destinations.

The project is being executed in partnership with Nishimatsu Construction Co., Ltd., following an operational agreement reached in July 2025. Situated in Hakone Gora, an area that welcomes nearly 20 million visitors annually, the resort is designed to bring elevated hospitality to a region renowned for its natural thermal waters and scenic landscapes.

Okura Resort Hakone Gora will feature 58 guest rooms, each equipped with a private open-air hot spring bath supplied with authentic Owakudani thermal water. The resort’s architecture and interior concept—developed by designer Gwenael Nicolas—embrace a refined “Forest Hideaway” aesthetic that harmonizes contemporary luxury with the surrounding environment.

In addition to private bathing facilities, guests will have access to indoor hot springs, saunas, a premium teppanyaki venue, and a sophisticated bar lounge. The resort aims to set a new benchmark for modern Japanese hospitality upon its 2029 opening.
