Vietnam’s President To Lam Commences State Visit in Singapore

Vietnamese President To Lam has embarked on a significant state visit to Singapore, arriving on May 28 for a four-day engagement. The visit is primarily aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation and furthering the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established between the two nations in 2025.

During his stay, President Lam is scheduled to hold discussions with key Singaporean figures, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The talks are likely to focus on enhancing economic relations, fostering investment opportunities, and advancing technological cooperation, alongside exploring regional collaborative efforts.

A major event during the visit will be President Lam’s keynote speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue. This address marks an important moment as it will be his first significant international presentation on Vietnam’s foreign policy since he took office in April 2026.

The trip also highlights ongoing initiatives such as the Vietnam-Singapore Tech Connect Initiative, which aims to deepen collaboration in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Additionally, both countries are progressing with the next phase of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP 2.0), focused on integrating smart technologies, promoting sustainability, and encouraging green development to attract high-value investments.

This visit underscores the strengthening strategic and economic ties between Vietnam and Singapore, with both nations eager to deepen cooperation across a wide range of sectors, reflecting a mutual commitment to future growth and partnership.
