Initially resistant to military action, Trump reportedly directed the Pentagon to prepare for possible airstrikes after a conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. By the weekend, however, the administration opted to delay the strikes, leaving the situation in a temporary holding pattern.
