The attack on Monday evening, which involved a car explosion near the Red Fort, claimed at least eight lives. Netanyahu, speaking for himself and his wife Sara, sent “deepest condolences to the families of the victims.”
Netanyahu strongly reaffirmed the India-Israel relationship, promising, “Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength.” He described the two nations as “ancient civilisations that stand on eternal truths,” whose “light” would “outshine the darkness” of their enemies.
This message of solidarity from Israel’s leadership comes as Indian authorities pursue a “terrorist attack” angle. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially taken over the investigation.
The NIA has formed a “dedicated and comprehensive” team to probe the blast. According to top sources, the investigation is focused on a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) module believed to be responsible for the deadly incident.
