President Trump is intensifying efforts to rewrite global trade rules. This week, seven more countries will receive formal letters warning of impending tariffs, as the US seeks to restructure international trade partnerships.
This comes after 14 nations received similar notices earlier in the week, detailing steep tariff increases of up to 40%. The pressure is mounting for foreign governments to meet Trump’s demands and renegotiate trade deals.
The president confirmed positive steps have already been taken with several countries. Trade deals with the UK and China are finalized, while talks with India are close to completion, he said during a diplomatic dinner.
While Trump previously set July 9 as the deadline for compliance, it has been extended to August 1. But this, he stressed, is the final deadline. “All money will be due,” he said, warning there would be no delays or exceptions.
