Philippines Announces October Non-Working Days for Local Celebrations

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared several special non-working days in various localities across the Philippines throughout October. These declarations aim to enable residents to participate in significant local festivals, anniversaries, and commemorative events.

Among the declared holidays, October 7 will see the town of Malita in Davao Occidental observe its fiesta. On October 9, San Isidro in Surigao del Norte will mark its 67th founding anniversary. The town of Talisay in Batangas will commemorate the Battle of Batangas on October 12.

Lapuyan in Zamboanga del Sur will celebrate its 69th founding anniversary on October 16. Batac in Ilocos Norte will observe the 160th birth anniversary of General Artemio Ricarte on October 20. The founding anniversary of Sibutu in Tawi-Tawi will be recognized on October 21.

October 23 will be a day of celebration for two localities: Angeles City in Pampanga will host the Tigtigan Terakan Keng Dalan Festival, while Narvacan in Ilocos Sur will celebrate the Aldaw Ti Wayawaya-lli A Narvacan. Additionally, on October 28, Dingle in Iloilo will commemorate the Cry of Lincud. Lastly, Mati City in Davao Oriental will hold the Sambuokan Festival on October 29.

The series of special non-working days have been enacted through presidential proclamations, underscoring the importance of these cultural and historical events to the local communities. These holidays provide an opportunity for residents to engage in festivities and honor their heritage.
