Easterlies to Bring Risk of Floods and Landslides to Southern Luzon

Southern Luzon in the Philippines is bracing for significant rainfall as easterly winds carry moist air from the Pacific Ocean, heightening risks of floods and landslides. Key areas expected to be affected include Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Aurora, the Bicol Region, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and northern Palawan. While rainfall is generally anticipated to be light to moderate, some locations might experience heavier downpours.

In addition to Southern Luzon, the Visayas region is also expected to see substantial rainfall. Western Visayas is forecasted to receive the most rain, with cloudy skies and scattered showers and thunderstorms also predicted in Eastern Visayas. The potential for moderate to heavy rain raises concerns of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Elsewhere in the country, Northern Luzon is projected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain influenced by northeasterly winds. Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and other parts of Calabarzon may experience partly cloudy conditions, along with isolated showers and localized thunderstorms.

Across Mindanao, residents can expect generally fair weather in the morning, turning to partly cloudy to sunny skies. Localized thunderstorms may develop during the afternoon and evening, particularly affecting Northern Mindanao, the Caraga region, and the northern Zamboanga Peninsula.

Authorities advise residents in areas prone to flooding and landslides to remain alert and monitor weather updates. Carrying umbrellas and exercising caution during heavy rain periods is recommended to ensure safety.
