‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Earns $927M Globally, Achieves 2nd Largest Opening

The latest installment in the Spider-Man saga, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” has become a cinematic sensation, raking in an estimated $927 million globally within its first four days. This impressive feat positions the Tom Holland-fronted Marvel film as the second-largest worldwide opening in box office history, trailing just behind “Avengers: Endgame,” which premiered with a record-breaking $1.2 billion in 2019.

Domestically, the film approached a milestone by collecting $355 million over the weekend, just shy of the $357.1 million record held by “Avengers: Endgame.” On the international front, the superhero flick amassed $572 million across 66 markets, with China leading the charge at $121 million. Other significant contributions came from the United Kingdom with $49 million, Mexico with $38.3 million, and South Korea with $25 million.

Beyond its impressive global numbers, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” shattered opening weekend records in several countries. In India, it achieved the largest Hollywood opening to date with $31.8 million. France followed with $26.6 million, while Brazil and Spain added $23.8 million and $15.6 million, respectively. These figures demonstrate the film’s widespread appeal and robust international presence.

In comparison to its predecessors, the latest Spider-Man film has notably outperformed “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which earned $600 million in its opening, and “Avengers: Infinity War,” which debuted with $640 million globally. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” picks up four years after “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” focusing on Peter Parker’s efforts to rebuild his life after the world forgets his identity. As he navigates this new reality, he faces a mysterious threat with the help of some unexpected allies.

The film features a star-studded cast, including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. With its compelling storyline and dynamic performances, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is not only a box office triumph but also a testament to the enduring popularity of the Marvel superhero franchise.
