The Philippines has decided to continue its 14-day visa-free entry program for travelers from Taiwan, extending the initiative until June 30 of the following year. This policy aims to boost tourism and enhance cultural exchanges between the two regions. The program, originally implemented last year, allows Taiwanese visitors to enter the Philippines for short-term stays without the need for a visa. However, those intending to remain in the country for more than two weeks must secure a visa prior to their arrival.
The decision to extend the visa-free entry aligns with the Philippine government’s strategy of maintaining reciprocal arrangements with Taiwan, which similarly offers visa-free access to Philippine passport holders. This mutual agreement is part of broader efforts to strengthen ties and encourage greater movement between the two populations.
In addition to the visa extension, the Philippines is actively working to draw more Taiwanese tourists by enhancing flight connections and promoting less-explored destinations. While popular tourist spots like Palawan continue to be highlighted, there is also a push to showcase other regions and unique travel experiences throughout the country.
According to tourism data, nearly 94,000 visitors from Taiwan made their way to the Philippines within the first five months of the current year. This figure positions Taiwan as a significant source of international tourists for the Philippines and marks an increase compared to the same period last year, reflecting the success of these initiatives in attracting more Taiwanese travelers.
