Singapore Boosts SME AI Support Through New Partnerships and Awards

Singapore is ramping up initiatives to encourage its small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to integrate artificial intelligence into their business operations. This push is supported by new collaborations, training programs, cybersecurity measures, and recognition through industry awards. At the Asia Tech x Singapore conference, Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, Tan Kiat How, urged businesses to prioritize practical AI applications rather than merely aligning with industry trends.

The government has unveiled expanded measures under the Digital Enterprise Blueprint (DEB), which is a strategic framework aimed at facilitating the digital transformation and AI adoption among SMEs in Singapore. Since its inception, the program has aided over 26,000 SMEs, with a significant increase in AI integration, jumping from 4.3 percent in 2023 to 53.5 percent anticipated by 2025.

As part of the new initiatives, partnerships with Grab and RSM Stone Forest IT are set to bolster SME capabilities in AI. Grab’s initiative is designed to assist 10,000 SMEs in the food, retail, and e-commerce sectors. This will be achieved through complimentary online training, webinars, and AI courses developed in collaboration with the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Meanwhile, RSM Stone Forest IT is launching a cybersecurity program that will provide phishing simulation exercises to 2,000 SMEs, aiming to enhance cyber resilience and pinpoint security vulnerabilities.

Additionally, the government has introduced the “AI for Enterprise Impact Playbook,” a resource created by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, SkillsFuture Singapore, and Workforce Singapore. This playbook is intended to guide businesses in identifying appropriate AI solutions and exploring workforce training opportunities. It serves as a comprehensive tool for enterprises looking to optimize their operations through AI.

In a move to celebrate successful AI integration, Singapore will host the first SME AI Impact Awards in 2026. These awards will acknowledge Singapore-registered SMEs that have effectively implemented AI technologies and achieved tangible improvements in their operations or workforce. To qualify, companies must have used AI solutions for a minimum of six months and demonstrated clear advancements in their business processes.
